Find pages that need a title or snippet review
Use this guide to find pages with click-through rates below the site's expected rate for their position. The assistant returns pages to review, their query mix, and questions to check before changing titles or snippets.
When to use this use case
Use this use case when pages receive impressions but fewer clicks than the site's position-based benchmark predicts. Low CTR does not prove that a title is the cause.
What to ask
Replace the domain and dates before using this prompt.
Find pages on example.com with at least 500 impressions during the 28 days ending September 30, 2026 whose CTR is at least 30% below the site's expected rate. Show each page's main queries and keep Google and Bing separate. Prioritize pages with relevant search intent and enough data to review. Explain what to inspect before changing the title or snippet. Do not invent current titles or claim that a rewrite will recover a fixed number of clicks. How the assistant runs it
The assistant checks the query mix before recommending a page review:
- Call
get_server_status,list_sites, andget_connection_statusto confirm the site and coverage. - Call
find_ctr_opportunitieswithbyset topage. Use an impression floor that fits the site's size. - Read actual CTR, expected CTR, position, and the response limits for each engine.
- Call
get_page_querieswith the full URL for selected pages. Check whether the page appears for several different intents. - Inspect the current page with a separate page-reading tool if the user wants copy suggestions. Composway's search metrics do not return the current title and description.
- Return a review list. Separate observed underperformance from explanations that still need checking.
Example tool input
This input requests pages at least 30% below the expected CTR.
{ "tool": "find_ctr_opportunities", "arguments": { "site": "example.com", "to": "2026-09-30", "windowDays": 28, "by": "page", "minImpressions": 500, "underperformanceRatio": 0.3, "limit": 20, "searchVertical": "web" }}What the result includes
The review list contains the following information:
- Page URL and engine.
- Impressions, clicks, average position, actual CTR, and expected CTR.
- The main visible queries and their intent.
- The title or snippet question to investigate.
- A reason to prioritize or defer the page.
How to read the result
The benchmark uses the site's own data. It is not an industry standard or a country-specific or device-specific curve. Review benchmark quality before treating a large gap as recoverable clicks.
Search intent, result features, query mix, and the displayed snippet can affect CTR. The tool does not identify which one caused the gap. Search engines can also display titles and snippets that differ from the page's tags.
Query rows can omit data, so do not sum them to replace page or property totals. A low-impression page needs more evidence before a small number of clicks supports a decision.
