Read a site's search performance
Use this guide to review a site's Google and Bing search performance. The assistant returns totals, changes from the previous period, and a trend for each attached engine.
When to use this use case
Start here if you want a performance overview before choosing an investigation. This use case uses recorded clicks and impressions, not website visits or conversions.
What to ask
Replace the domain and dates before using this prompt.
Review example.com's web-search performance for the 28 days ending September 30, 2026. Check the attached Google and Bing sites and data coverage first. Compare each engine with the previous 28 days. Show clicks, impressions, CTR, and average position separately by engine. Use a weekly trend to explain when performance changed. Finish with three questions worth investigating. Report missing data as missing, not zero. How the assistant runs it
The assistant checks the connection before reading performance:
- Call
get_server_statusto check the tool schema version. - Call
list_sitesto find the accessible properties. Check whether the selected property belongs to a workspace. - Call
get_connection_statuswith the domain. Confirm the selected Google property, selected Bing site, and sync time. Stop and clarify if the property or workspace differs from the intended one. - Call
get_site_snapshotfor the requested period. Check the returned current and comparison windows and measured days. - Call
get_performance_trendfor the same period. Use weekly points to locate changes. - Summarize each engine separately and choose a follow-up investigation.
Example tool inputs
These inputs request a 28-day snapshot and a weekly trend over the same dates.

The assistant returns the following information:
- The selected property or site, sync time, and measured dates for each engine.
- Current and previous clicks, impressions, CTR, and average position by engine.
- A summary of the weekly trend, with partial weeks identified.
- Follow-up questions based on the observed changes.
How to read the result
Use the snapshot and trend for property totals. Do not replace those totals with sums of query or page rows because those rows can omit data.
Keep average position separate for Google and Bing. Read each rank-bucket snapshot's actual date because it can differ from the reporting window. Missing Bing data means the site was not measured there, not that it received zero clicks.
This use case does not measure conversions, revenue, country, device, or traffic from AI assistants.
